Coach Pat Savage will lead his 5th
Runners’ Tour of Ireland in 2004.
Included in the tour is your flight, bus, hotels, breakfast every day,
dinners on non-race nights and lunch on those days you run races. You will circle Ireland from Dublin City
down to Cashel, Blarney, Cork and Kinsale and then up to Bunratty Castle, through
Clare and the Burren to Galway. You
will have the opportunity to run with a group every morning and end the night
in a local pub.
This 10 day Tour will cost lest than $2300 for
students (under 25) and close to $2500 for adults. You will need to send a
check for $100 made out to Coach Savage to reserve your ticket. This $100 deposit is refundable up until the tour reaches 28 participants. You will be notified before your check is
cashed. Send your check to Coach Savage

Day 1 – July 3rd Depart Chicago on a regularly
scheduled airline.
Day 2 – July 4th Arrive in Swords with bus
transportation to Dublin City. You will
take a walk/run around
Dublin
with stops at local pubs and shopping areas.
Day 3 – July 5th You will have a guided
sightseeing tour of Dublin including a tour of the Guiness Brewery.
You
will run a race in the Savage ancestral town of Swords hosted by the Fingallians
Athletic
Club. An awards party with food will be
sponsored by Coach Savage’s cousins.
Day 4 – July 6th You will ride the bus to the
Rock of Cashel and then on to Blarney Castle and Woolen
Mills
which has the best shopping in Ireland.
You will stay overnight in Cork.
Day 5 – July 7th Today you will visit the ancient
town of Kinsale. Tonight we race 4
miles in Carrigtwohill
in
a race with over 300 Irish runners.
This race is hosted by Coach Savage’s cousin and
Stryker
Corporation. The race is followed by a
party with lots of food.
Day 6 – July 8th You will bus to Bunratty Caslte
and Folk Park and stay in one of the towns in County
Clare.
Day 7 – July 9th Today we bus the Coastal Road to
the Burren and then on to the spectacular Cliffs of
Moher. We will stay overnight in Galway.
Day 8 – July 10th Today is a free day to rest up
and walk around Galway. Tonight we may
be racing in
Loughrea
in a race hosted by Coach Savage’s cousins.
The race will be followed by an
Irish
Hoolie (party) at a local pub hosted by the Loughnane families. Sonia O’Sullivan
set
the world record in a race in Loughrea!
Day 9 – July 11th You will take an excursion of
the Connemara region which is known for its “Savage”
beauty. You will visit Kylemore Abbey which is
considered one of the most romantic
spots
in Ireland.
Day 10 – July 12thToday
you will take a bus to the airport and head back to Chicago. For an extra fee you
can
stay longer in Ireland or extend your stay to England.
