Hello and BOO to all! Yes, it’s the scary, spooky time of year when all good runners don their ghoulish best and fly around the track like banshees (what the heck is a banshee anyway??)! It will be a fright night for sure at practice – we’re running those speedy 200’s, 2 sets of 6 plus 1 for a screamer of a workout. Come ready to run outside and inside; if it’s really cold and windy we’ll workout on the indoor track. To get into the school, go in the doors on the west side of the school by the indoor track (across from the weight room). This will be the only access to the Pool Hallway, although the men can go thru the Boys LockerRoom (girls too if you can sneak in, but you’re taking your life in your own hands – it’s pretty gross).
Congratulations to NWORC athletes who competed in the Sycamore Pumpkin Run this past Sunday. We had 5 age-group winners, sealing our win for the Circuit once again! GOOD JOB!!
Next race up is Westchester Veterans’ Day Run 10K on November 10th. There is also a 5k at this race, so pick your distance. Coach Savage needs entries for this event on Wednesday, October 30th without fail!
Upcoming events: NWORC 13th ANNUAL PUB RUN (what could be more important) on Sunday, December 8th. We will depart from NWHS at 2:00PM, on a course yet to be determined but probably pretty much like last year for those who can remember…. we end up at Barnaby’s for pizza and Irish Whiskey. This is always a fun, fun event, with many hilarious moments to rib your teammates about for a long time.
S-NO-W Fun Run 5-mile race in Lake Geneva on the first Saturday of January. Now, if anyone knows how to have a party, it’s those Lakes Area Running Club crazies! They put on a race with this big party, at the Grand Geneva just east of Lake Geneva, and you will have a rockin’ good time! More as we get closer, but definitely put it on your calendar NOW.
The CARA Awards Banquet on January 25th: we’ll do as we always do, which is give Coach our invitation cards so we can all sit together. Come celebrate with your teammates and running friends! Again, more details as we get closer.
The NWORC Team Party is tentatively scheduled for the first Saturday in February. Location has yet to be positively determined, but if Naomi can hold out on delivering that baby…. More to come.
Congratulations to Gloria Iverson who competed in the Eikeden Relay in Japan this last weekend. Thanks to her BIG KICK, the team finished a very respectable 10th out of 30 teams, instead of almost dead last like other years. And Gloria learned a little Japanese – can you say “SA-KE”??
Okay, gang, that’s all for now! | |
