Good day, Athletes!! Welcome to another fine Wednesday; as I’m writing this the snow has not begun, so here’s hoping it’s another forecasting mistake and the streets are clear so we can all get out for a good run!!

COACH SAVAGE’S BIRTHDAY. MARCH 5th. PIZZA NIGHT. BE THERE.

For those of you who did not get the email, Monday night practices are on hold until the weather is warm enough to be outside. Reason? Baseball practice in the fieldhouse every Monday night. You can get into the weight room starting at 5:30 if you want to lift weights. Maybe, if there’s interest, we can organize an outdoor group run on Monday nights. We’ll talk about it on Wednesday.

And speaking of Wednesday, here’s the workout! We’re doing 2 sets of 6 X 400M with a 200M jog, run one every 3:30. We’ll do a quick stretch session and then off to Barnaby’s for PIZZA and a little Irish celebration for our Coach’s birthday. If you look at his license plate you’ll know how old he is (or isn’t, as the case may be).

Congrats to Gloria Iverson who won the women’s division in Sunday’s Wacky 5K, and finished 20th overall! Jimmy Milner also had a great race, finishing 3rd mens/overall. We had lots of NWORC athletes out there competing in the wind and snow; I was not one of them…. But we had a return performance from Eric DeWitt, long gone from our sight and greatly missed. Maybe this means he’s coming back to town for good – we sure hope so!

Next race up is Shamrock Shuffle on Sunday, March 23rd. You should be signed up, either with Coach Savage or on-line. This race is always a hoot, bringing out every spring runner or runner-wannabe within a three-state radius. Should be a huge crowd, so come on down and cheer if you’re not running!!!

The Outdoor Season officially starts on Wednesday, March 26th. Please make sure you fill out and sign a waiver, and pay your club fees!!! We thank you. Coach Savage has purchased one of his many gifts with the donations provided by you: a new briefcase!! Let’s have a big cheer for the demise of the bungees that held the old case together. He also received (picked out by Mrs. Coach) a lot of cool running gear from Galyans; you might not recognize him in his UnderArmor skin-tight shirts because he’ll be streaking by (they make you really fast, y’know). Thanks again to the team for his presents, and thanks to Coach for a great year!!! Let’s have another one in 2003!!! Ok, that’s it for now. Happy Fat Tuesday and we’ll see you on the oval. Melissa
